Pretty Ponies

When I put on this dress, the song from an 80s “My Little Pony” TV commercial immediately popped into my head…and stayed there all morning long…”My Little Pony, Megan and Sundance…”  It drove me nuts, ha!  But as a memory of my childhood, this commercial played on TV quite often and I did grow up playing with these little toys.  My mom still has the entire My Little Pony Mansion somewhere packed up in our house!  Although the dress reminded me of my childhood, I created a professional, classy look by adding some bulky, gold jewelry, a vintage belt, a navy blazer and some suede pumps to match.  Off to work, now only if I could get this song out of my head…

Spotted-In Reverse

A suit can be very versatile…especially when you combine the pants with a vintage bolero jacket or in this post, pair the suit’s blazer with separate dress pants.  It’s rare that I actually wear the suit together as one piece, because I have too much fun mismatching the red separates!  I especially love the animal print lining inside the blazer…it adds a little extra pop to the outfit.  Toss on a bunch of gold vintage necklaces and I’m ready for work.  Happy Friday!

Travel-Cambodia, Angkor Wat

On the recent trip with my family to Thailand we visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok, as detailed in this post.  At the Grand Palace, among all the tall reaching temples, is a model of Angkor Wat…the amazing temple complex in Siem Reap, Cambodia!  Like the Ta Prohm temple, it’s incredible, but Angkor Wat is THE TEMPLE you travel to Siem Reap and Cambodia to see.  So we did just that!

The words “Angkor Wat” mean “City Temple” and once you arrive you realize how vast this structure truly is…it’s actually the largest religious building in the world!  Construction of this temple took place in the 12th century and although it was abandoned for a while, just like Ta Prohm, the moat surrounding the temple’s structure helped provide protection from the jungle taking over, as you saw in my pictures in this post.  Today, Angkor Wat is part of the Angkor World Heritage Site, which provides funding along with encouraging the Cambodian government to protect the site.  Although it was an extremely hot day in Siem Reap when we visited, my family and I really enjoyed walking the grounds and taking in its glory.  I hope you enjoy the pictures below.
