Malaysian Chinese Wedding

In this post, I explained that the following week I would post pictures from a Malaysian wedding that I had the opportunity to attend.  Unfortunately, last week I was very ill with that strange tropical illness, which seems to be lingering, and was unable to post those pictures.  So as promised, please see the photos from the Chinese wedding that we attended right here in Malaysia.

And last but not least…the amazing cake!

Overall, this Malaysian wedding was unlike most weddings I have attended in the States.  One thing that was different was the food.  I definitely couldn’t pronounce or even determine most of what we were eating.  Secondly, there was absolutely no dancing, nor was there a dance floor.  And third, they didn’t serve or cut the cake!  How could they do that?!  All night long we stared at this beautiful, delectable creation, but never got to taste it.  Such a pity!  All in all, it was an interesting experience attending a wedding in Malaysia.  One thing remained the same, however, the feeling of love and family.  As shown above in the slideshow during the ceremony, the same quotes of love and marriage are used all over the world.  When the Chinese characters appeared on the screen I couldn’t understand their meaning; however, when the English translation popped up, I smiled to my husband.  It was the passage from the Bible – 1 Corinthians 13.4…Love is Patient, Love is Kind.  I guess some wedding traditions are universal.

Hot Hue

One of the hottest hues of this fall season is mustard…such a 70s inspired look!  In my PLAY style below, I accessorized two of my favorite mustard items with a cooling, pink blouse and jeans for a hot night out in KL.  Yes, it’s definitely still hot here!

Spotted-Ankle Bracelet

The ankle bracelet, otherwise known as the anklet, has come and gone as a everyday jewelry item throughout my life.  Originally it started out in middle school when I wore a thread braided, multi-colored ankle bracelet while laying on the beach or hanging out with friends over our summer holidays.  Then years later, I was given a beautiful glass beaded anklet from my parents after a vacation they took to the islands.  But in high school, my aunt gave me her old ankle bracelet which I have to say is one of my favorite.  Partly because it says GRACE on it, which is both of our names.  It’s all gold and looks so dainty and beautiful in the sunlight on the beach.  During the summers, I loved wearing it, but when I got back into the cold, winter months of Washington, D.C., the anklet just became annoying with boots, pantyhose and warm wool socks.  So it went back into the jewelry box until the next vacation or until warm weather came again.

Living in Malaysia with warm weather all year round, you would think I would have my ankle bracelet on everyday, but to be honest, I kinda forgot all about it.  Until I was contacted by someone that said I should feature ankle bracelets on my blog.  So Dave, this post is for you and part of my 100 for this week!  Every girl should have a pretty, little anklet.
