Malaysian Chinese Wedding

In this post, I explained that the following week I would post pictures from a Malaysian wedding that I had the opportunity to attend.  Unfortunately, last week I was very ill with that strange tropical illness, which seems to be lingering, and was unable to post those pictures.  So as promised, please see the photos from the Chinese wedding that we attended right here in Malaysia.

And last but not least…the amazing cake!

Overall, this Malaysian wedding was unlike most weddings I have attended in the States.  One thing that was different was the food.  I definitely couldn’t pronounce or even determine most of what we were eating.  Secondly, there was absolutely no dancing, nor was there a dance floor.  And third, they didn’t serve or cut the cake!  How could they do that?!  All night long we stared at this beautiful, delectable creation, but never got to taste it.  Such a pity!  All in all, it was an interesting experience attending a wedding in Malaysia.  One thing remained the same, however, the feeling of love and family.  As shown above in the slideshow during the ceremony, the same quotes of love and marriage are used all over the world.  When the Chinese characters appeared on the screen I couldn’t understand their meaning; however, when the English translation popped up, I smiled to my husband.  It was the passage from the Bible – 1 Corinthians 13.4…Love is Patient, Love is Kind.  I guess some wedding traditions are universal.
