Travel-Kuala Lumpur on The Today Show

For today’s Travel Thursday post instead of writing about a travel adventure I have taken, I wanted to post about a traveling man that came right here to KL…Matt Lauer!  For yesterday’s taping of “The Today Show”, Matt Lauer was right here in Kuala Lumpur highlighting the city, along with the country of Malaysia, in the segment, “Where in the World is Matt?”  What an exciting evening!  With my sign in hand, I walked over to the KLCC park with a few girlfriends and waited outside in the sweltering heat and humidity for at least two hours to be a part of the taping.  When Matt appeared, the crowd burst out in cheers and waved our American flags with excitement and pride!  It was our own little Rockefeller Center.  The Today Show was here, here in KL, and we got to be a part of it!

Designer Spotlight-David Yurman

At a very young age, I was introduced to David Yurman.  My very stylish aunt, who just happens to be named Grace, loved and still loves David Yurman.  I remember looking through her jewelry boxes and admiring her beautiful David Yurman pieces, especially her jeweled rings and earrings.

The David Yurman company was founded by David Yurman and his wife in 1980.  Shortly after, Yurman introduced his signature piece to the world, the cable bracelet.  This bracelet, which you may have seen before, is a twisted helix adorned with gemstones on each end of the thin cuffed piece.  Last Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive a David Yurman piece myself, this beautiful oval, link chain necklace below.  I love how I can dress it up for work or an evening out, or on the weekends wear it casually with a t-shirt and jeans…it’s such a versatile piece.  This is exactly how I feel about David Yurman’s collection, so versatile and classic.

Comforting

Although Kuala Lumpur isn’t experiencing the change of season I am accustomed to back home, my body is telling me I need to get ready for the colder weather!  Call it instinctual, but growing up on the east coast of the U.S., it’s my body’s reaction to start turning on the heat in the house, snuggling up in my favorite sweatshirt and making comfort food during this time of year.  We may not have the option of turning on the heat in our house, (although my husband keeps saying he can blast the A/C if I want it to feel like winter), but I can always snuggle in my favorite sweatshirt and make comfort food!  So this is just what I did this evening here in KL (it’s Tuesday evening here already – ha!).  See below for the recipe and pictures of the comfort food we enjoyed tonight…quick, simple, delicious!

casserole

Chicken Casserole

– sliced chicken breast
– egg noodles (I couldn’t find here in Malaysia, so I used fettuccine)
– 2 cans of Cream of Chicken condensed soup

(You can add a can of peas, veggies, whatever you want to this recipe.  Mine is very simple.)

Place a whole chicken in a pot of water on the stove until it comes to a rapid boil and the meat is tender to touch with a fork.  Take the chicken off the stove and place cooked chicken in a strainer, pulling off the skin.  Slice off the pieces of chicken you would like in your casserole.
Boil the pasta and drain.  Combine the cooked pasta, cooked chicken and two cans of Cream of Chicken soup into a casserole dish.  Cover the mixed pasta, chicken and Cream of Chicken with potato chips for a fun bit of texture and added salty taste.  Cover the entire dish in tin foil, cut a couple slits in the top.  Bake in the oven for 30 minutes on 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Enjoy!
