Hidden Hong Kong-The Pineapple Bun

In Hong Kong, there are many amazing foods to experience and try.  One little treat is the Pineapple Bun also known as the Polo Bao.  I’ve heard one of the best Polo Bao’s is in Mongkok, across the water from us…I will have to stop there and try it with some meat and veggies at another time.  But for now, right in our neighborhood of Wan Chai, is a little cafe called Kam Fung and this is where I tried my first pineapple bun.  Always crowded and crazy, Kam Fung is known for serving amazing egg tarts (which I will definitely post about in the future), milk tea (known as nai cha) and the pineapple bun.  Kam Fung is simple and inexpensive, just like the Polo Bao, but proves to be very tasty and charming.  Places like Kam Fung and little treats like the Pineapple Bun are exactly what Hong Kong is all about.

I have a “sweet tooth”, as people say here, and I would looooved trying these apple buns! Wow, so good you did it, it must have been delicious! I’m not so experimental – although sweets are OK – because unfortunately I’m a fussy eater… well, and the best is that I recognize it… so when I travel I don’t experiment much – apart from sweets! Well done – and now after seeing your pictures, I need something sweet!!!!
