Travel-Palace of Versailles, France

As mentioned in Monday’s post when I styled a PLAY style from the Palace of Versailles, I wanted to share some of our photos from the day we spent in Versailles when traveling to France.

Eating chocolate croissants in the street on our way to catch the train to Versailles…and on the train, bringing out my lace gloves to get into the spirit.

 The Palace of Versailles, or simply known as Versailles, is a royal chateau located in the Ile-de-France region of France.  Famous as the home of Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV, it is the most lavish building and grounds I have ever seen in my life.

This was Marie Antoinette’s bedroom.  On the left side of the bed is a barely discernible “hidden door” in the corner near the jewel cabinet.  This is the door through which Marie Antoinette escaped the night of 5/6 October 1789 when the Paris mob stormed Versailles – the beginning of the French Revolution.
