Ppp…Peplum Please!  Peplums have come back and they are in full force as a fashion trend this year.   Peplum coming from the Greek word Peplos was a loose outer robe worn by women in ancient Greece and also called a Peplum.  It’s now defined as a short overskirt or ruffle that’s attached to a waistline of a jacket, blouse, dress or in this case, a skirt.  It adds decoration or trim – a cute little frill to flare out your skirt!  I love a little Peplum and below I am wearing one of my favorite peplum designs from Ali Ro.  Launched in 2007, Ali Ro mainly consists of a collection of fabulous dresses, but as you can see they design cute skirts as well.  Kathleen McFeeters, the owner of Ali Ro, says she created the name as an acronym of her teenage daughter and mother’s names.  She says that Ali Ro “celebrates the fun of fashion through unexpected fabrications, sexy silhouettes, playful mixes of embellishments and original prints.”  Pretty, pretty Peplum…

So, I didn’t even know the word peplum until I read this post. Then I was watching TLC’s What Not to Wear, literally the next day, and they guy (forget his name) pointed out the peplum on the lady’s jacket. It is funny how you learn something and then you see it again right away! Thanks for expanding my style vocabulary!

Okay, I just have to say I LOVE the shoes. That ring is eye popping too. I had a peplum dress once. Who knew, I sure didn’t. I am learning a lot about fashion through you. Now if only I can use it to help my own fashion statements!!!
