Designer Spotlight-Uniqlo

“Welcome to Uniqlo!” is the phrase you will hear from a chorus of employees as you walk in the doors of the Uniqlo store here in Kuala Lumpur.  But not only will you hear it when you walk in, but whenever you see another employee, or when you walk down an aisle or when you walk up to the register or when you walk in the dressing room.  It’s definitely a warm and friendly place with constant smiles and welcomes.  Now when stopping in, my husband and I smile and say it back to them…which sometimes adds confusion, ha!  Our experience at Uniqlo has been a lot of fun while shopping in their flagship Malaysian store since it first opened in 2010.  Never hearing of Uniqlo before moving to Kuala Lumpur, I have found it to be a great place to shop for basics, casual wear and even work shirts.  So today, Uniqlo is this week’s Designer Spotlight!  Although Uniqlo isn’t a specific designer per say, it’s a Japanese company/casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer…all in one.  On days to the office when I feel like wearing a comfy top, I always turn to my Uniqlo cotton crew neck.  To dress it up for work, I add a pencil skirt, sometimes a big statement necklace and today a silk scarf.  Throw on some heels, grab your bag and it’s off to work.  Have a great Wednesday!
