Designer Spotlight-Isola

While flipping through an Instyle magazine one day, I came across an advertisement that caught my eye…well, it was the shoes that caught my eye!  They were gray patent leather with a neon pink cuffed strap…so cute!  After reading more about the shoes through the ad, I discovered they were the brand Isola and this is when my online shopping search began.  After finding the Isola website, I read more about their shoes and how they are “perfectly suited to the discerning woman who knows that exquisite doesn’t have to mean extravagant.”  The shoes are noted to be “inspired by the finest things in life with intricate details, lavish materials and sumptuous comfort.”  So after finding the exact pair of shoes I noticed in the ad, I scooped them up and have not looked back since.  They are super comfy, super cute and always noticed!  I realized during my online search that not only are Isola shoes available through the Isola website, but you can find them online at Zappos, 6pm, Nordstrom and I am sure many other retailers as their popularity grows.  Here I wore them for a night out with a ruffled pink skirt and a white blazer…I just wanted a night to feel super girly!

What a Crock!

Over Christmas vacation, my husband and I purchased a crock pot from the States and brought it back to Malaysia with us.  Since January, we have been experiencing with many new recipes and concoctions, either from ideas online or from friend’s suggestions.  One of our first meals we tried was Balsamic Chicken with Spring Vegetables, found from another blog – http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/.  This blog written by Stephanie O’Dea details her New Year’s resolution in 2008 to use her crock pot everyday for a whole year and blog about it!  Her first book titled, “Make It Fast, Cook it Slow:  The Big Book of Everyday Slow Cooking” landed on the New York Times best-seller’s list for six weeks!  She has written two additional books since, with the third to be released this August.  Check out her site and try out some of her recipes!

My husband and I have really enjoyed crock potting because it’s so easy to just throw all the ingredients into the pot, push start and go.  Then 9 + hours later after work when we walk in the door, the delicious aroma of the crock pot fills the entire house!  Our mouths just water because our dinner is waiting for us, hot and ready to eat!  What a time saver!

Balsamic Chicken with Spring Vegetables

–4-6 boneless skinless frozen chicken thighs
–1 whole head of garlic
–2 zucchinis
–2 yellow squash
–1 orange bell pepper
–1 yellow bell pepper
–1 red onion
–1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
–2 t Worcestershire sauce
–salt and pepper

The Directions…Salt and pepper your chicken pieces and place them into the crock.  Wash and cut all your vegetables and place them into a mixing bowl.  Peel the head of garlic, but keep the cloves intact.  Then toss the vegetables with balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire sauce before pouring them on top of the meat in the crock pot.  Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.  We ate ours on top of pasta.  Enjoy!

Okay, this post is making me hungry…I’m going to go make some dinner!  Have a great Tuesday morning and Happy Crock Potting!

Just Being Audrey

The first Audrey Hepburn movie I ever saw was “My Fair Lady”.  I grew up watching the movie over and over with my mom and sister dancing around the house and singing the songs, “The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain” and “I could have danced all night.”  Of course Audrey Hepburn is fondly remembered for her movies, but she is also revered for her humanitarian work and her classic, graceful style.  Recently, I came across this book, “Just Being Audrey” and read more about her story – growing up, becoming famous, having a family and becoming an icon.  It’s ironic, however, that Audrey was quoted saying, “I never think of myself as an icon…I just do my thing.”  This book inspired me in more ways than one.  Here I am below, “just doing my thing…just being Grace.”
