Designer Spotlight-Cynthia Rowley

Last Christmas I got a Brother sewing machine as a present.  I was so excited…and since Christmas, I have been trying to learn how to sew!  However, sewing does take a lot of time and patience, I have learned.  Lately, I haven’t had as much time as I would like to sew, but I promise to make more time in the future and share some of my creations.  So when I did first try-out my sewing machine, I decided to purchase a bunch of patterns online from Simplicity and they just so happened to be Cynthia Rowley designs!  So this is when I first started getting interested in her style.  Beginning in the early 80s, Cynthia Rowley started her designs with a few thousand dollars given to her by her grandmothers.  She decided to have a fashion show at her apartment and invited all the famous designers, none of whom attended.  It didn’t stop Rowley, however.  She continued her love of fashion design and the Cynthia Rowley Collection was incorporated in 1988.  Today her designs can be found in department stores, specialty shops, online and in approximately 60 shops around the world.  I found this Cynthia Rowley purse online and carried it along with me to lunch at our favorite restaurant, Delicious.

Monkey Crossing

Beware of monkeys…these are the signs you see on the streets here in KL!  Monkeys are like squirrels climbing up the trees, running along the roads and digging through the trash cans.  I can’t tell you the last time I have seen a squirrel, but I can tell you the last time I have seen a monkey and it was during our lunch break from work…and unfortunately, it was behind one of our favorite restaurants.  There they were lurking in the trash cans!

Silky Cargos

On a cool, rainy evening here in KL, I love putting on my silk cargo pants.  You can dress them up or dress them down.  So for a night of Korean BBQ with our friends, I dressed them up with my favorite gold jewelry and black platform heels.  Here are some cute, silk cargo pants I found online…

1.  ROBERTO CAVALLI Silk-satin cargo pants from NET-A-PORTER; 2. THREE DOTS Silk Crepe De Chine Cargo pants from ZAPPOS; 3. EVER Patra Cargo Capri from REVOLVE CLOTHING; 4. Rich & Skinny Cool Cargo pants from COUTURE CANDY
