Travel-Hong Kong

We visited Hong Kong over Chinese New Year last February and it was very cold!  We both had never been and actually couldn’t wait to escape the heat of KL for the weekend.  We had heard that Hong Kong was very expensive, crowded and exciting, and all of these things did prove to be correct, but we loved it just the same.  Here are some of the photos highlighting our trip over the Chinese New Year weekend.

Our teeny-tiny hotel room that was extremely expensive, especially for its size.

Some pictures of the city.  We stayed on the Kowloon side and the next day took the ferry across Victoria Harbor to explore Hong Kong Island.

And last but not least, my favorite sign of our visit.  I wonder what kind of services this shop offers?

Designer Spotlight-Marc Jacobs

Sometimes when I buy a dress and bring it home, I look at it closely admiring its details and the thought that went into creating it.  I wonder what the designer was thinking when he or she sat down and first sketched the dress or thought up the idea of how the colors would blend in the fabric and how the pattern would be assembled.  So today I imagined what this dress would look like penciled on a sketch book and decided to play the model.  Hey, a girl can dream, ha!

The Van Lady

Every Tuesday and Friday afternoon, a lady and her husband pull up to our apartment complex in their VAN and set up shop!  They sell grocery store items like fruit, veggies, meat, canned goods, bread, cereals and even household goods like Lysol wipes!  It’s literally a mini grocery story on wheels!  I had heard people whispering about this so-called “Van Lady” and how fabulous she was, but never really knew what to expect.  In my mind, I pictured a little old lady driving up in her mini-van, sliding open the side door and distributing some local fruits and veggies.  But the true “Van Lady” was WAY MORE THAN THIS!  It’s really a major operation.  As I was standing there admiring their selection, a couple approached the van and began picking out their choice of meat for their dinner that evening.  After they selected a nice racks of RIBS, the Van Lady smiled at their selection, grabbed the rack and proceeded to sit on the curb slicing the ribs off the bone on the sidewalk.  I have never seen anything like it!  Well, she did use a cutting board and a hose, at least.  Ahh, just another afternoon on a ‘normal day’ in Kuala Lumpur!
