Work Horse

It has been a little chilly in the office lately, so I decided to add a warmer, wool vest to my silk, lightweight dress.  Just grab a belt to keep it closed and add a touch of style, instead of buttoning up the vest, as you would with a suit.

Spotted-Cap

The girl in the yellow hat…I was literally known by this on my college campus…due to the fact that I was always seen wearing my favorite yellow baseball cap, either studying in the library, taking notes during lectures or hastily moving between buildings on my way to class.  Now, years later, it’s still my go-to hat when having a bad hair day, just running errands or heading to the beach or a baseball game.  Yes, it’s completely falling part – the beak is even broken – but I don’t care, I love it!  Having a baseball cap is definitely an essential piece of style for any girl on the go and number 15 of MY ONE HUNDRED.

Travel-Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Our trip to Yogyakarta was an experience I will never forget. The people so kind and friendly, the landscapes breathtaking and the temples enchanting.  What other place on earth can you ask for a ride (on a becak) from a man who peddles you for over two miles, up and down hills, shimming through cars and congestion, smiling the entire way and only asks for 50 cents?!  Only in Yogya!  It just felt wrong to hand this man such little Rupiah as I hopped off my seat, so I gave much more than expected and watched as the man’s crooked grin widen to reveal only a few more teeth.  He turned with a hop in his step and returned back to his livelihood.  Little did we know that same man would be sitting outside awaiting our return from lunch eagerly hoping he would have another chance to prove his strength and hard work.  Stepping back into the becak, I turned around to give him a smile, took my camera out and held on tight…we were off again.
An afternoon on the streets in Yogyakarta , Indonesia…
