Sweet Tooth

Saying that I have a sweet tooth is a bit of an understatement…I don’t have A sweet tooth, I have many!  Growing up, my packed lunches always included a dessert – either a couple chocolate chip cookies, a few vanilla wafers, a handful of Starburst or Hershey kisses, or a fruit-roll-up – to wash down the peanut butter and jelly or bologna sandwich.  Even today, I still like to enjoy something sweet after each meal.  It may not be a huge bowl of chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles (my absolute favorite, by the way), but a double-stuffed Oreo or a couple of sweet tarts usually does the trick.  So when I read the news that a Cupcake ATM was recently installed outside one of my favorite Cupcake shops, Sprinkles, my sweet tooth began to water!  And of course I began to long for the U.S., in this case California, where the first ever Cupcake ATM is due to start dispensing these delectable treats this Friday.  Oh and did I mention it’s open 24 hours?!  So if you are in the Beverly Hills area this weekend, I would start lining up to grab your first ever cupcake dispensed to you hot, fresh and oh so yummy…right out of the Cupcake ATM!  Wow, this news is just the icing on the top of the CUPcake!

Over the holidays while visiting the U.S., I stopped by Williams-Sonoma to grab a tin of the Sprinkles cupcake mix.  This way, we could enjoy our favorite cupcakes here in Malaysia.

And if you don’t have a cupcake shop near you, you could always start using this before you go to sleep at night…an inventive way to get your sweet tooth fix!

Seeing Red

I have always loved wearing red; it’s such a powerful color and a great vacation from the classic black.  I’ve styled red dress pants for work, carried a red clutch as a pop of color for a night out, and definitely worn my share of bright red lipstick.  But, this week I’m going to style three different ways to wear red denim…for DAY, PLAY and even WORK.  So stay tuned…you will be seeing red

Spotted-Cocktail Ring

As read in Nina Garcia’s book, “The One Hundred” (which inspired me to create my own list of wardrobe essentials), the term “cocktail ring” emerged during Prohibition.  Women would attend illegal cocktail parties wearing bold, jeweled rings around their fingers…not only did they draw attention to the fact that they were drinking illegally, but they were doing it with flare!  Today cocktail rings are worn during any occasion, with or without a cocktail in hand…although it’s sometimes more fun to be wearing while sipping your favorite martini.  In this WORK style, I wore one cocktail ring on my right hand, opposite my wedding bands on my left.  Depending on your mood or style, you can wear multiple rings at once, but I wouldn’t go overboard.  One cocktail ring can add a bit of fun to your style and can also be a conversation piece at your next occasion, even if you decide to only wear your cocktail ring while drinking coffee at work.
