I love creating two outfits out of one, just like in today’s WORK style. Just grab a blouse, or a sweater as seen below, pull it over your favorite dress and suddenly your dress becomes a skirt and a versatile piece in your wardrobe! It’s all about layering. Next, add a belt (styled a couple ways below)…this helps define your waist and creates a professional feel to the style. I started off the day wearing ballet flats, but soon changed into nude heels, as previously styled. My WORK style included very neutral colors, so adding a pop of color by toting along my Cambridge satchel gave the look just what it needed. Any excuse to carry along my satchel! Made from sturdy leather and available in a whole slew of colors, these bags have become a favorite of many fashion bloggers and today’s Designer Spotlight.
Now a little bit of background…The Cambridge Satchel Company is a British company that was founded by Julie Deane in 2008. As a mom trying to save money to send her daughter to private school, she had no design experience, but a vision to recreate the classic, uncomplicated Oxford and Cambridge satchel very popular some years before. So she set out on her mission and after months of traveling, she found a school in Scotland that still required their students to carry satchels. With this piece of information, she tracked down their supplier, visited the factory, pitched her idea and the rest is history! That’s some determination! This year, The Cambridge Satchel Company is set to reach 20 million in sales and expand their collection to clutches.
