As read in Nina Garcia’s book, “The One Hundred” (which inspired me to create my own list of wardrobe essentials), the term “cocktail ring” emerged during Prohibition. Women would attend illegal cocktail parties wearing bold, jeweled rings around their fingers…not only did they draw attention to the fact that they were drinking illegally, but they were doing it with flare! Today cocktail rings are worn during any occasion, with or without a cocktail in hand…although it’s sometimes more fun to be wearing while sipping your favorite martini. In this WORK style, I wore one cocktail ring on my right hand, opposite my wedding bands on my left. Depending on your mood or style, you can wear multiple rings at once, but I wouldn’t go overboard. One cocktail ring can add a bit of fun to your style and can also be a conversation piece at your next occasion, even if you decide to only wear your cocktail ring while drinking coffee at work.
