Designer Spotlight-Frye

One hundred and forty-nine years ago this March, John A. Frye opened the doors to a small shop located on Elm Street in Marlboro, Massachusetts.  This shop wasn’t opened to produce anything fancy or full of fashion, just to serve a purpose…”to ease the daily working lives of the hundreds of factory workers in that small New England town.”  The first wearers of the Frye boot weren’t trying to make a fashion statement or prove anything, they were just people working to support their family and the community.  But in time, the Frye boot morphed into so much more and expanded to be The Frye Company it is today.  Not only did the company change, but the people designing the Frye boot began creating new patterns, discovering new materials, and even inventing new shoe-making machinery, as they developed the Frye shoe-making process into an art.  As stated on the Frye website the story of the Frye company is told in every shoe they’ve made…”across cultural shifts and changes in fashion, for generation upon generation.  Now, Frye boots are accessorized and envied on city streets, worked and roughed up on country roads, and chosen above all others for their inimitable style and uncompromising quality.  And yet, despite our reach and success as a boot maker, our mission – to make the best-looking, hardest-working, longest-lasting shoes and leather goods – hasn’t changed since our days on Elm Street.”  Reading the Frye heritage story brought a smile to my face knowing I owned a pair of Frye boots and I myself was a part of the history.  Not only are my Frye boots the most comfortable and durable boots I own, but they are one of the most fashionable.  Everywhere I go, I constantly get compliments along with inquiries to where I found them.  I’m looking forward to styling another pair of Frye boots I own called “Harness“…coming up soon in MY ONE HUNDRED…stay tuned.
